For books for the school library, now housed in a new building serving 850 multi-cultural, low-income, inner-city minority and immigrant youth daily, during and after school.


Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School, DC                $4,000.00
To fund books for their new library serving full time student ESOL adult population enrolled in their day, afternoon, and evening sessions obtaining their GEDs, improving English, and gaining life skills.


Literacy Council of Northern Virginia, Fairfax County, VA                  $5,000.00
Books for the Family Learning Program serving over 300 ESOL adults and 250 children with parent education workshops, childrens books, homework help in their life skills curriculum.


Maryland Public Television, Baltimore, MD                                 $1,000.00
For books for the Ready to Lead in literacy project, targeted to in-home day care providers in the inner-city Baltimore area, where currently only 58% of children enter school ready to read.


Windham Center School, Windham, CT                                 $  500.00
For a bilingual book collection for 3rd & 4th grade students in this Title 1 school where over ½ of the families fall below poverty level and the library is the only resource for bilingual materials.
